Tract Success at PIA QLD Awards 2008
The PIA Queensland Awards were held on Friday night, 7th November. One of Tract’s works, The Bromelton Outline Structure Plan, prepared for Scenic Rim Regional Council, won an award of excellence for Industrial Planning. The judges believed that the work was forward thinking, comprehensive and showed innovation in its application. They also believed that it showed a sympathetic approach to the surrounding environment.
Tract also picked up a merit award for the CQ University Campus Renewal Plans of Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Mackay for Regional Planning Achievement. This project showed the way in which higher education can play a formative role in shaping the economic bases of future regional prosperity.
One of Tract’s student town planners in Brisbane, Jess Lisle, along with six other students in her group, won a Merit Award in the category of tertiary student projects for their report on Climate Solutions for a Growing Region. This report discussed climate change and its relevance in the SEQ region as well as practical and realistic strategies, policies and actions for decision makers.
