Katie Allen - Landscape Architect

Katie began at Tract in November 2003 as a technical assistant before moving to London in May 2004 to gain overseas experience in the field. Through her experience at both Tract and abroad, Katie has gained skills in hand and computer graphics with a competency to use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Her skills have been applied to a variety of projects from conceptual and schematic work to design development. During her time at Tract, Katie has been involved on various projects including: Village Park – Commonwealth Games, Mitcham/Frankston Freeway tender and Laguna Quays, Whitsundays.
Gavin Ashley - Town Planner

Since joining Tract Consultants Pty Ltd late in 2005 as a casual employee Gavin became full-time in 2006. He has been involved in a variety of projects lending graphic support to both the landscape architecture and planning departments. His work includes brochure creation, site analysis and masterplan drawings, graphical representation and visual assessment. Gavin has taken a lead role in several graphics projects including the Eastlink Community Information series. He is currently studying Planning and Environment at RMIT and as such is becoming increasingly involved in urban design and planning projects in addition to his role in the Graphics Department. Key Projects include: Eastlink Community Information series, Twin Peaks, Toorak Park and Wilbow Point Cook.
Shaun Brick - Landscape Architect Student

Luke Chamberlain - Associate Town Planner

He spent his previous three years working in local government in Melbourne’s outer south east in a predominantly statutory capacity. Luke has developed experience in planning for growth areas and in dealing with associated land use and development pressures. At Tract Luke has been busy working through the preliminary planning processes for the Eynesbury Township development south of Melton. This has included coordinating approvals for the stages of subdivision and delivering outcomes that respond to the unique ecological and heritage qualities of the site. The Eynesbury Township will set new standards in water sensitive urban design and regional liveability. Importantly it will be the first Victorian town to be fully connected to recycled water. Luke is also involved in key projects that include Edgewater on the Maribyrnong, Botanic Ridge, Sunshine Principal Activity Centre, the Danny O’Brien Thoroughbred Training Facility, and a range of other residential, commercial and mixed use projects.
Nick Clements - Town Planner

Nick commenced full-time work at Tract in 2009 following two years at Tract as a Planning Assistant whilst he completed his University qualifications. Having recently graduated from a Bachelor of Urban Planning and Development from the University of Melbourne Nick has been provided with the opportunity to participate within a wide range of projects in a multi-disciplined team. Whilst at Tract, Nick has also been involved in a variety of projects involving the preparation of permit applications for a broad range of land uses and developments including mixed density residential, industrial and commercial. Further to this, Nick has strengthened his graphic skills through the preparation of a range of plans utilising skills in GIS, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Nick has a keen interest in urban renewal projects and has enjoyed his role in assisting with the delivery of high density residential developments at locations such as Edgewater and Metro 3175 (Dandenong).
Penny Coia - Associate Landscape Architect

Since joining Tract Consultants Pty Ltd in late 2001, she has been involved in a variety of landscape architectural projects including residential estate developments, and industry and business parks. Penny has experience in streetscapes, entry features, wetland design, indigenous revegetation, and she has recently assisted on an urban plan for the Monash University campus at Gippsland. These projects have involved conceptual and schematic work, site analysis, construction documentation, contract administration and supervision. Penny also possesses strong CAD and computer graphic skills. As Tracts Graphic & Multi-media department Co-Ordinator, Michael is assisting in Tracts branding, implementation of staff graphic skills training, adherence to Visual Identity Guidelines and data asset management. He also contributes to the creation of promotional graphics, animation, web design and still photography for tract. Michael has a passion for graphic design and an advanced technical knowledge of graphic software & industry standards.
John Davidson - CAD

Since joining Tract in 1999, John has provided CAD drafting expertise on our major projects, setting up and maintaining our CAD environment, and CAD training for other Tract staff.
Chris Downie - Landscape Architect

(2000), The University of Melbourne Chris is a graduate from the University of Melbourne’s Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program, and has been working at Tract full-time since returning to Melbourne after a brief period traveling overseas. Prior to commencing with Tract, Chris has gained many years experience working as a horticulturalist whilst studying. During his landscape experience at Tract, Chris has been involved in a range of landscape projects and development tasks, most commonly the graphic preparation of landscape concept plans, and the revision of planting schemes. Chris works largely in graphic communication and has skills in hand rendering, as well as computer assisted graphics. His horticultural expertise is varied, with strengths in arboriculture, sports turf management and plant identification.

Simon Gilbertson - Town Planner

He graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Urban Planning and Development from The University of Melbourne. Simon brings enthusiasm and attention to detail to his work and is committed to providing clear and valuable communication to both the client and fellow team members. He is a dedicated problem solver who aims to find reasonable and justifiable solutions to any issue presented to him. Simon is a member of both the Planning Insititue of Australia (PIA) and the Victorian Planning and Environmental Law Association (VPELA) and is part of the Young Planners Group (YPG) - a subsidiary of VPELA. In his time with Tract, Simon has demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of planning responsibilities, from residential and commercial development applications, to planning scheme amendments, masterplanning and preparing VCAT expert evidence statements. Simon has been able to build on his planning experience through involvement with a number of strategic projects including the Moorabbin Airport Master Plan, Estuary - Lepold, Arlington Rise - Portarlington, Dandenong Residential, Metro 3173.
Orlando Harrison - Principal Urban Designer

With a background in architecture and a keen interest in masterplanning and urban form, he has worked with a number of architecture firms in Melbourne prior to branching into Urban Design. Orlando brings to Tract a broad range of design experience from residential design to alpine resort, multi-unit residential and masterplanning projects. He has particular experience in built form principles, residential masterplanning and urban design vision-making, and extensive experience with private developer clients across the development industry.
Jagdish Kancharla - Associate Landscape Architect

Dip Urban Design, Master of Landscape Architecture Jagdish brings to Tract dual qualifications in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design. He has experience in a wide range of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture projects. His areas of experience include masterplanning, landscape design, detailed design & documentation and project management. Projects include commercial, residential, as well as civic space design, including urban design frameworks. As an architect and urban designer, he has worked on various projects with issues relating to the built environment and the surrounding landscape. He is particularly interested in the integration of the disciplines of urban design and landscape architecture. As a Director of the firm, Deiter is involved in all major facets of project developments from the day to day running of the job including site analysis, conceptual design, design development, documentation through to contract administration. Joanna Matthews - Principal Town Planner

She has provided advice to a range of clients in metropolitan and regional Victoria on a wide variety of development and land use planning matters. Such advice has included the review of planning controls and assessment of the implications for site potential; the preparation of planning permit applications and facilitation of approvals; preparation of planning scheme amendments and the management of the statutory approvals process; and the variation of restrictive covenants. She also has a particular interest and specialist skills in the preparation and implementation of innovative planning controls, either on a site specific basis, or as part of a municipal wide approach. Projects which have utilised such skills include the preparation of local planning policies and frameworks, comprehensive development plans, and development guidelines. Sally McDonald - Associate Town Planner

Geography), University of Melbourne Master of Urban Planning, University of Melbourne VPELA Member Sally joined Tract in 1997 and has over 10 years experience in both strategic and statutory planning consultancy to the private and public sectors. From 1995 to 1997 she worked in economic development for the City of Hobsons Bay where she liaised with local businesses and worked on strategic tourism and economic development projects. At Tract, Sally has co-ordinated approvals for a range of projects and has enjoyed being involved from the conceptual stage through to operation of a development. She has played a key role in concept preparation; rezoning; development plans; design and environmental guidelines; environmental management plans; advice on Section 173 agreements; design review panel advice; and, subdivision and development approvals. She has drafted planning controls for Planning Schemes tailored to specific developments and also for broader planning purposes. Project in which she has intensively involved include: Hidden Valley, Moonah Links, Knox New Format Planning Scheme, Oceans Acres and The Village in Clayton.

Sue’s responsibility at Tract as Company Accountant is to provide timely financial advice and reports to the Directors, maintain all financial records, personnel/payroll recording and reporting, including statutory requirements. Her role is to supervise the administration and accounting employees.

She has been involved in projects such as residential estates, university and hospital campuses, and streetscape redevelopments. He has extensive experience in development planning in the private and public sectors and co-ordinates the statutory planning services of the firm. He has particular skills in Transit Cities planning, subdivision and higher density housing developments, negotiating development approvals and project co-ordination. He has particular skills in greenfield planning, structure planning, policy preparation, negotiating development approvals and project co-ordination. Dez Stallard - IT Officer / Graphic Designer

Product has covered reports, map illustrations, brochures, multimedia and Tracts website. Since joining Tract, Dez has also developed skills using the Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Relevant projects that Dez has been involved in at Tract include Botanic Ridge and Settlers Run, Pentridge Piazza, Eynesbury, Edgewater, Transit Cities and Melbourne’s Most Liveable Suburb.

Adam Terrill - Principal Town & Environmental Planner

Adam has been with Tract for over 9 years, since graduating with honours in urban and environmental planning from the University of Melbourne. He has enjoyed recent success at a number of award ceremonies, both at a project and personal level. In 2006 he was awarded the Young Professional of the Year Award by the Victorian Planning and Environmental Law Association (VPELA), and used the scholarship to travel to Thailand to assist in the Tsunami rebuilding efforts. The Liveable Melbourne series, a project he initiated and which was published on the front page of The Age and for 7 days thereafter, won the overall President’s Award for an outstanding contribution to planning at the Planning Institute of Australia’s Awards (PIA) for Planning Excellence (Vic). The project also won the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s Media Award, an award from Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, and the National Media award from PIA. The Transit City and Activity Centres monitoring project won a commendation in the Planning Minister’s Award for Melbourne 2030 Implementation from PIA. During his time at Tract, he has been involved in a wide range of planning, development and environmental projects, developing skills in statutory and strategic planning, land use assessment, VCAT and Planning Panels advocacy and environmental effects statements for residential, commercial and industrial projects. He has managed a number of high profile development projects in recent times, including Victoria’s largest wind farm in south west Victoria, a new Activity Centre in East Brunswick, and a major strategic planning study for Seven Mile Peninsula in Tasmania. Adam is a regular contributor to industry journals and a competent public speaker, having addressed numerous industry conferences and seminars, speaking on topics ranging from planning for liveability to new technology in development. He is also an active committee member of a number of sporting and professional bodies, such as the VPELA Young Professionals and the University Blues Football Club.

Melissa is skilled in costing landscape works and coordinating with Architects, Engineers and Consultants as well as communicating graphically using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and hand rendering.

Rebecca Wardle - Graduate/Town Planner

She has been involved in a variety of projects involving the preparation of permit applications for a broad range of land uses and developments including mixed density residential, industrial and commercial. Further to this, Rebecca has strengthened her graphic skills through the preparation of a range of plans utilising skills in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Adobe Illustrator. Rebecca has a keen interest in wind farm projects and has enjoyed her role in assisting with the investigation of regional, national and international wind farm activities, preparation of reports and evidence for VCAT and preparation of planning applications for wind farm developments at locations such as Berrybank and Darlington in south-west Victoria.
